As navigation enthusiasts we tend to think only of Position and Navigation, but I understand flavour of the month is PNT or Position Navigation & Timing with Timing becoming an essential element in power generation, communications and electronic commerce.  It would seem that suitably monitored eLoran shows considerable promise in providing standby timing signals of the order required.

I don’t pretend to understand even 1/10 of it, but presumably time into service is also a consideration.   Moreover, developing Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellites to have a full PNT capability will also cost money and have potentially huge contracts behind it.  DaveP
