The Mk3 is pretty worthless, except as a demonstration of principles. The Mk15/25 is perfectly usable for sun sights, but its optics don't cut it for star work. If you buy one new, take care of it, adjust as necessary and check index error with every shot, it makes a fine backup tool and learning sextant. However, for durability, accuracy, and optics that allow a broader range of use, pick up an Astra IIIB. It's definitely worth it. Can't beat it. Carl Herzog
