BTW, what is the Daily Beast? is it left wing or right wing?

Actually neither - they started out (probably with good intentions) a year or so ago as a news "aggregator", but over time have evolved into something closer to tabloidesque than aligned with any partisan politics.

They're ostensibly owned by Newsweek, but apparently don't seem to have much editorial oversight (or fact-checking) in place because lately they seem to publish as much salacious rumor and gossip as they do real news.

If Hitler said "it's raining outside" you can't jump to the conclusion

Point taken, and the converse being that something supposedly reported by any "news" organization is not necessarily factually-accurate - these allegations may well prove to be accurate, but right now they're still at the "unproven" level and any accusations being leveled are just speculation at this point.

Greg, as reported on the Media Matters link you provided:

"And, even so, "I can assure you Gen. Shelton's testimony was his own, supported by and focused purely on documented tested results," she said.

But the episode, first reported by The Daily Beast, created new headaches for troubled Reston-based LightSquared. Lawmakers were further agitated when Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski decided not to appear at Thursday's subcommittee hearing. The FCC has been accused of rushing to give a provisional green-light to LightSquared. [The Washington Post, 9/15/11]"

It appears Fox News was not the first to report this story. BTW, what is the Daily Beast? is it left wing or right wing?

If Hitler said "it's raining outside" you can't jump to the conclusion that it is NOT raining just because it was Hitler who made the statement.
