Hi Marcel It took me a bit of time to realize that you are differentiating between two atmospheric effects. 1) Omega Sun. 2) Inversion Sun. Upon investigating these a bit, I came across www.atopics.co.uk which has wonderful pictures of these and other atmospheric effects, to include the 'green flash'. The Omega-sun shows up with super-adiabatic lapse rates, i.e. temperature gradients much less than -10C/km. Inversions are generally related to positive temperature gradients (where the sea is cold and the air warm), they produce a different picture of the sun, not an Omega-sun.
