Hi Andy,
It's really interesting to learn about your sextant, in particular about the use in a mud field in lieu of conventional survey equipment. Did you buy the original Freiberger pentaprism, or a third-party one, and do you remember the price and from where it was available? Are the prism and the horizon shades mounted using the same insert-and-lock mechanism as Paul's sextant? It would be fascinating if you could post a picture of your sextant with prism and shades and maybe also of the certificate. Is this a German one, or was it issued by a reseller, as sometimes was the case?
