A word of caution about time diagrams--my students have consistently had difficulty with them, so I conclude that they are not easy to understand. I hand out the attached to try to help them. Re: the title of this post-- the formula to compute LHA is on the first page of the explanations in the Nautical Almanac. Page 254 in my edition.
