The sextant has a traditional half-silvered horizon mirror, large index mirror, and 4 power telescope. There are 3 horizon filters and 4 index filters (all varying densities of neutral gray) and a lamp for the index and micrometer scales. The sextant comes with it's original case (believed to be phenolic or Bakelite), mirror adjustment tool, brush, and certificate (10 Jan. 1969) from C. Plath in Hamburg, Germany. The arc has been cleaned, polished, and re-greased. The index arm moves smoothly as does the tangent screw. The filters, telescope lenses, and index mirror are blemish free while there are two spots on the edge of the horizon mirror. They do not affect either sun or star sights. There is light corrosion in some places but nothing which affects the sextant's performance or reliability. Replacement parts and service are available from Weems and Plath in Annapolis, MD or Maryland Precision Instruments in Baltimore, MD. The C. Plath Navistar Traditional sextant now lists for $3,096 from Celestaire and $3,106 from Weems and Plath. My price is $430 including insured USPS Priority shipping to any US address.
