Without a cursor that you would have in a normal slide rule this can be a bit tricky to do.

I made a cursor on my inkjet to use with Gary's flat bygrave. I simply printed a thin line vertically on a 3M transparency in portrait orientation, then folded the top and bottom edges to fit snugly around the larger scale. (I had trimmed the small scale already to make it easier to move around.)
