Malcolm Misuraca said, "Exactly mid-way between the 50 degree sight before noon and the 50 degree sight after noon, as determined by the time of each sight, is local apparent noon." He makes the common error of not differentiating between the time of maximum altitude and LAN. What he described gives the time of highest altitude, seldom the same as time at LAN.
