Figure out LAN?

I'd like to be able to calculate LAN (MP) on paper before taking a Sun sight.
My Longitude is W 075d 22' 28.7"
Is this how to do it....as follows?
Take Longitude, W 075d 22' 28.7" and convert it to time= 5hr 1min 29.91 seconds
Find Mer. Pass. in the daily pages. For today's date- 9/26/2014 MP is 11:51 UTC
Next, add the MP of 11:51 to the Longitude converted to time of 5hr 1min 29.91 seconds and get= 16hr 52min 29.91 seconds for the time of MP.
Is that correct?
Is there a way to determine LAN without using the daily pages and a sextant? That is- simply taking your exact Longitude and adding or subtracting a certain value?
