Doug-that explains the confusion. A "wiper" wipes up the oil, a "whipper" sounds like someone hired to whip the ends of lines. Or, misbehaving crew. On LED lights: Great for commercial vessels and boats that will be running a lot at night, where regular changing of the bulbs is an issue. Most sailboats change light bulbs every 5+ years, and the costs of LEDs make them still uneconomical. The good bright ones can costs $3-5 each and need 20-40 to replace one 79 cent tungsten bulb. (To get the same wide beam angle both horizontally and vertically.) But the price of LED's and LED arrays keeps dropping.
