I have just passed 1500 observations taken between July 2011 and March 2012. According to Dutton's, accuracy continues to improve after 1000, 2000 and even 3000 observations and I agree. My Davis 15 sights did improve over time. Even more improvement occurred with getting an Astra (2008) on eBay. My Moon sights with the Davis were often in the 2-10 mile for 'a'. With the Astra my last moon sight was 'a'= 0.1 mile. Sun sights also showed remarkable improvement, most recent 4 were all 'a' under 0.5 miles. I believe the quality of the telescope is largely responsible for this but I have no way to quantify my belief. The images are just sharper to my eye so tangency is easier to see. (All done with mirror AH and spirit level)
