    Hi Michael, very interesting method! I obtained 34 17.8N,128 53.1 via
    HO 229 and hand plot. Fix is center of "cocked hat" with triangles of
    5,3,and 3 miles.

    Just for fun, I applied a -0.1 minute refraction correction and iterated my solution but saw little effect.  The result being...

    Aires = 100.7797  Time offset =      0
    Star               Decl         SHA       GHA          Alt          T_Day    D  M Year   T_Year     C_GHA  Aires

    venus           moon             34.283   230.891   -33.262   187.350
    venus           sun                34.284   230.995   -42.148   192.391
    moon           sun                34.193   230.892   -29.648   196.831
    Average location               34.2532 230.9260
    Or 34d15m12s north     230d55m34s west   or  129d4m26s east

    Again, I did not allow for movement of the ship.  In the equal altitude plot below, red is venus, blue is the sun, and green the moon.  I note the ship is moving roughly south along the green moon line so I'd say the red venus and green moon intersection and the blue sun and red venus intersection should should be moved south by about 20 seconds of latitude which will tend to reduce the triangle.
