Etymology of "loom"?
From: John Huth

Hi, All -
Does anyone know the etymology of the word "loom" - as in the light from a city looming over the horizon?
I suspect it may be some corruption of "luminous", but I don't know how long this term has been in usage. Any advice on the history of the word would be most appreciated.
Thanks!
John Huth
