Since they only recently corrected the problems I had identified ( I last checked about August and they had not yet been corrected) I wonder if this new error was introduced at that time. If anyone has the commercial reprint please check it for this newly identified error. The government and the commercial versions do contain the earlier error I had identified. Although a navigator would not very likely use an altitude less than one degree it is good to remember this error. When calculating an altitude less than one degree carefully check the change in the printed altitudes as you approach zero. If a value near to zero suddenly jumps up bigger than the previous value you have found one of the erroneous entries and it should be a negative value. For example, in volume 2, Latitude 24 reading down the column for declination 16 same name, you get 2 02, 1 10, 00 18, 00 35, -1 27. The 00 35 value is in error since it is further above zero than the previous entry and it really should be -0 35. Going across this page you will find the same errors repeated in every other column. You also find the same errors near the bottom of the page for contrary name cases.. gl frankreed@HistoricalAtlas.net wrote: >Gary, regarding the online version, you wrote: >"found the same error on those two pages." > >Does anyone know how long this error has been present in the online files? >Or can you made a reasonable guess? > > -FER > > > >> > > > --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
