I normally lurk here, but I just have to post regarding this.
John, I doubt any skilled navigator would ignore useful information, as you ask below. But they would weigh the confidence they had in the original EP1's position "along the LOP" with the confidence they had in their estimated track and decide wether the EP2 or the RFIX was a better position to use for navigation. Frankly with the 2 LOP's you have plotted, I would not feel confident at all in either the RFIX or the EP2 and would look for more information to be available before I could feel confident.
Finally, your initial post was titled "Why Not To Teach Running Fixes". Perhaps if it was titled "How to improve running fixes" it would have had an easier acceptance.
