Put a cold beer in a glass and set it out on the patio on a hot humid night and watch the beads of water condense on the outside of the glass.

If one remembers the old saw about even a blind pig eventually finding whatever it is looking for, I finally blundered into turning the sound on, and was able to listen. Very interesting demonstration, once one realized that any "cold" surface could serve as a "condenser", an actual coil being nice, but not necessary.

I had been curious as to their source of energy (heat) but then realized your mention of the island being "wooded". Tending the fire would likely have been a bore, but being seriously thirsty would not have been much fun. I guess that, for a break, one could always chase crabs.
