Right. It's something to be aware of. Historically the navigational solution was usually described as a "fix", but there was always an implied "error ellipse" around it. Today we can be more explicit about these things. If you suspect anomalous dip and have no other way of dealing with it, add a couple of miles to the dimension of the error ellipse. In mid-ocean, it may make no difference.
