From Dan Allen: "Ellen Macarther's recent singlehanded nonstop sail around the world in 71 days 14 hours 18 minutes 33 seconds, covering 27,354 nautical miles at an average speed of 15.9 knots is simply amazing!" She did it in a 23 metre trimaran. All the big multis being driven so hard around the globe repeatedly these days is testimony to their potential for safety, apart from speed.
