    The  latter. Near as I can pick it off from terraserver.com, the position is
    41.621N,  87.253W. This is a little east of the "Marquette Beach Aquatorium
    and Aviation  Museum". Octave Chanute flew gliders on the beach there back in
    the 1890s.   Let me know if this position agrees reasonably well with your
    calculations.
