While it's an interesting manual from the keepers of USS Pampanito out there in San Francisco, I don't think it will help much since the old "fleet boat" submarines in the Second World War did not have any provision, as far as I know, for actual celestial observations through the periscope (except simple azimuths for checking the compass). Submarines back then ran on the surface as often as possible, especially at night, and celestial navigation was done with an ordinary marine sextant from the deck area on top of the superstructure (commonly referred to as the conning tower though that's not really correct).
