    INS was developed for airplanes in the late '60s and they typically accumulated errors of 5 to 10 NM on an Atlantic crossing taking about 6 hours. The submarine units were not as constrained by weight so it is likely that they more accurate.

    This is likely. Still, position given by an interial system deteriorates
    with time. I don't now the exact numbers, and it is possible that they are
    hard to find.
