    Again, the idea and implementation of a dip-meter such as the one you described are excellent.

    Maybe a small hint now, though : for any "operational and meaningful" use, it might be good practice to record dip values under various azimuts, say 3 observations spaced within 60° in Azimuth if achievable/practicable, to check that dip remains fairly constant regardless of Azimuth.

    In some areas, Red Sea to name of one these, at sea dip values are known - or at least (quite) strongly suspected - to be (highly) azimuth dependent especially by sunrise and sunset.
