    Greg,

Since I was not sure about the location of the photographer which I
found, I tried to check it with the azimuth of the Anacapa Island. I
also get about your azimuth of 218 deg (from North)

    Sun centre:
1918 Pixels, corresponding to Azimuth Sun = 36.77653 deg (from South)

    Visible edge of Anacapa Island:
2475.5 Pixels, corresponding to Azimuth = 37.6824675 deg (from South)
which corresponds to 217.68 deg from North

However, if the location of the photographer is wrong, then also this
bearing will point to the wrong part of Anacapa. The mean values
obtained from LL and UL are:
    34.195192 N and -119.2466535 (W).
I don't know at the moment why this location should be wrong.

    Marcel
