    For this exercise a Plath whole horizon sextant was preset to 59 degrees 00.0 minutes then a 10 mega pixel black and white image of the Sun was taken using a 200mm fixed lens in place of the scope. Camera settings were ISO 200, 1/200s, f8.

    Minutes of arc per pixel for 200mm lens = .0975
    Pixels from lower limb up to horizon = 67 (derived minutes are subtracted from 59°)
    Assumed Latitude 34° 9.5' N
    Assumed Longitude 119° 13.5' W
    Height of Eye = 15ft.
    Temperature = 70°F
    Pressure = 1015 mb

    Pixels from jetty's end up to horizon = 419

    1. Bearing to Anacapa Island.
    2. Bearing to jetty light.
    3. Distance in yards from jetty's end.
    4. Sun azimuth.
    5. Sun intercept.
    6. Position of the Photographer.
    Use chart number 18725 with Channel Islands Harbor insert.
