Re [NavList] Diego Garcia Lunar # 14832, dtd Dec 13, 2010
Dear Jeremy,
How nice to read about your last Lunar in Diego Garcia !
1 - If we assume that both your position and your Observation UT are fully known, then your Sextant value should have read 76°57'6, while you reported it to be 76°56'8, which makes a difference of 0.8' (more accurately for the "extra no significance whatsoever digits addicts" I find 48.8 arc seconds, while Frank's On Line Computer indicates 49.4"), and
2 - If we assume that both your position and your Observed Sextant values are correct, then your UT would have been 14h41m16.5s , (or LT = 8h41m16.5s), which translates into a difference of 2m29.5s (+6h) between UT and Watch.
Thank you very much again for your on-going contributions to NavList, and
try avoiding the sharks in the blue lagoon (BTW do you know the most splendid Mayotte Island lagoon ?)
Best Regards
Antoine
