    Hi

Thanks for the reply and the links..

The ARG-1 at Toronto Surplus is the Luftwaffe version. The price is
Astronomical too. They were asking (wait for it) $8K, but then
apparently reduced it to $5.5K(ish). Way way too much money in my
opinion. The Luftwaffe versions are not that particularly rare. I
heard that this one may have come from a museum collection, which help
    influence the high price.

Looking through the eyepiece you can see the numbered grid. This is
what I have read about the
    ARG-1.

The ARG-1 contains a stereographic projection of the sphere engraved
on glass, which is viewed through a microscope for sight reduction.
It has has a bakelite body with a rheostat and base mounted
illumination module. The circular glass screen has a highly accurate
mercator projection engraved to the underside and a silk illumination
cover. It has an azimuth and microscope eyepiece with adjustable
    cross hairs.

    Best wishes

    Max
