To a
civilian, "veer" means "changed direction".
I
prefer to say "clocked" and "backed" so there is no confusion over what "veer"
means. Or "header" and "lift".
I was
taught (didn't learn perfectly, but was taught<G>) that on a boat if what
you say can't be misunderstood, fewer problems happen.
