Dunno, Bill, that was a long time ago.Cultural differences aside, the eye/mind is still set up to detect patterns, irregularities, and motion faster than it reads and interprets positions and digits. Supposedly from evolution, i.e. those are ways to detect a predator--or lunch. Figuring out what it is, is only of secondary importance.
