About advancing a COP with a constant azimut angle to the GP (i.e. with a local LOP kept parallel), you can also refer to a French paper in Navigation IFN October 1985: "un projet futuriste pour la navigation astronomique classique", by Leftenant X. Michel, Navigation Professor in French Naval Academy.

This paper followed the introduction of Matrix method of G. Bodenez into the cursus of French Naval Academy on 1980. I noticed that reference in my first paper in Navigation IFN about "Coplanar Vertices Method".
