Up until 10 years ago, I got offshore on other people's boats,
racing, or delivering boats to/from races. Especially during the
races I concentrated on the LORAN or GPS fixes and my DR, but
I always carried a sextant for backup and tried to work in a
few sights, especially sun lines on the beam or on the bow.

I have since "graduated" to my own boat, a 24' Edey & Duff
Stone Horse, in which we poot around southern New England.
    Celestial remains an absorbing hobby.
