    Thanks Greg, the extra points do help. I get:

    Lon: W 119d 06.7'

    My computed UT of transit (00:50:43) is now also closer to Antoine's 00h50m54.0s than it was before.

    Your Latitude is right on. The Longitude is off but this is expected since my observation of M.P. did not match the calculated M.P. for the GPS position. Try adding the following observations which weren't included in the original post.

    Jupiter 5 Jan. 2011

    UT 00:30:20 Hs 53� 17.2'
    UT 00:39:21 Hs 53� 31.3'

    UT 00:58:16 Hs 53� 34.3'

    This should get your Longitude a bit closer.
