Davis MK III Index Error

How can you determine index error of a Davis Mark III sextant, if there is no free sight of a horizon? (I am in the backyard, with only a artificial horizon).
NB:the filters off the horizon "mirror" are very light, so even with sunglasses not possible to look direct to the sun.
