Paul-
Are you sure? I always imagined that they filled the plastic on the 25 with glass fibers to make it stiffer and less subject to temperature distortion (just conjecture – I have never so much as laid eyes on a 25). Anyway, that is what I would do if I were designing a range of plastic instruments. It takes a bit of a seasoned eye to differentiate between filled and unfilled polymers. Is there some way of finding out for sure what the difference in plastic is?

There is no difference in the plastic used for the Mark 15 and Mark 25 sextants except for color.
