Subscribers to NavList will no doubt be saddened to hear of the death this week of David Waters. Lt-Cdr Waters joined the National Maritime Museum as Head of Navigation and Astronomy in 1960 and was subsequently Deputy Director, retiring in 1978. His 1958 book on 'The Art of Navigation in England in Elizabethan and Early Stuart Times' remains a standard source. He was 101.
