Richard, It looks like Paul Hirose and I were working these up right at the same time, and our results (and also concerns about the inputs), appear to be essentially identical. So that's re-assuring, I suppose. But it does leave us with a problem: why are you getting such substantial and inconsistent errors? What is the magnification of the optics on your theodolite? Ten minutes of arc is one-third of the apparent diameter of the Sun, so you should certainly be able to see that. Is your theodolite planted on solid ground? You're not subsiding into soft earth while taking your observations, I hope? :)
