I took each grey dot from http://fer3.com/arc/imgx/simhat.png and calculated its distance to true location (which is 0,0). There are 10000 distances in total ranging from about 0 to about 5.6 miles. I split interval 0..5.6 into subintervals, 0.25 miles each and counted how many distances fell into that interval. Then I plotted each count (normalized by total number of points) against the midpoint of the interval. The result is the picture http://fer3.com/arc/imgx/distance.png
