My dear mother died recently aged 92. She had very fond memories of the “Yankee” pilots during WW2 (Peterborough, East Anglia, England, near to several big US bomber bases.) She famously had a dance with Clarke Gable in 1944. Thanks to all those heroes.
.(sorry, I know this is off topic, but please forgive an old man some sentimental nonsense like this! Actually, nearly on topic, since my uncle was a Lancaster bomber navigator and survived 25+ missions, which was a miracle). After 40 years + in medicine, I’ve seen enough blood and guts and am pretty well a pacifist now. But I guess that is a privilege of old age. As is the CN hobby for me!
