Byron:Back in the late 1960th's I wrote a short artical, that was reprinted in many US Navy publications on "Electronic assisted groundings." In that time much of the Navigation was basic, but I was on a very up to date nuclear submarine, but our main Navigation SINS was down, but two navigation black boxs (radar was one the other can not be named.). We were using loran, radar and another system, and the chart to enter the Hebrids off Scotland. This is about how important the chart and DR. are to the ship.
