Re: DR navigation in the recreatiional fleet: was Role of CN at s ea

Jim, you might offer them an analogy they can understand, the car.
Ask for a show of hands, how many know how to change a flat tire?
How many would drive around without any spare tire at all?
How many have looked in the trunk to see if there IS a spare and jack?
How many actually have used the spare?
    How many have called AAA?
And how many wish they could have?
(Not all these questions, but enough to make a point.)
Then remind them, there is no AAA offshore. The Coast Guard is overextended
and the sea kills without any qualms or second chances. The GPS has a role,
as does every device, but one device of any kind, is a dangerous way to go
    many places.
Some will understand. Others will help ensure full employment for the
salvors and wreckers. Isn't that the way it has always been?
