Hi Tony, I downloaded "Bowditch" from the internet, but somehow I missed the "execute" file, or whatever you call it, because I have to open each chapter individually. Very cumbersome. Do you know the right way to do it so you can open the whole book? You can download the entire document at once or a chapter at a time. This should get you started without spending any $. This is the reference or at least one of the references you should have. It contains a wealth of information. There are several other documents at this site which may be of interest to you as well. > > Enjoy! > > http://pollux.nss.nima.mil/pubs/ > > > Tony Cappiello > -----Original Message----- > From: Navigation Mailing List > [mailto:NAVIGATION-L@LISTSERV.WEBKAHUNA.COM]On Behalf Of Murray Campbell > Sent: Tuesday, January 27, 2004 17:30 > To: NAVIGATION-L@LISTSERV.WEBKAHUNA.COM > Subject: DIY plotting charts > > > the books i'm trying to learn from mention that it is > possible to make your own plotting charts on graph or > blank paper, but they don't give any more info... > > it seems like i will need to create a map projection > for the needed lattitude...i'm not sure how i go about > scaling lattitude to longitude at different > lattitudes...is there a formula that does this?? > > (i would rather not be dependent on buying and > stowing a bunch of plotting charts) > > thanks, m
