    Just fully slide the arm beyond the 140° mark to the end of its mechanical range (as far as to its mechanical stop). When looking from above you'll see a large aperture in the worm enclosure. You can very easily spray thin oil or WD40 through this aperture.

    No I don't really know. Best guess is to save weight. They might have used older German molds (Plath)...
