Re: Crossing the Gulfstream with Celnav

In 2013, in a word play on "running fix", I coined the term "walking
fix" for an immediate correction to the dead reckoning based on a single
LOP. My investigation predicted better accuracy than the running fix if
the DR errors were purely random. But that advantage was reduced or even
reversed by a systematic error (e.g., a uncorrected current)
superimposed on the random error. It depended on the magnitude of the
    systematic component.
