Sean, you wrote:

Well, not UN-interested, but I think many people, myself included, figure it's something that somewhat MORE interested parties will work out, and then we can wait and see how it ends. :) But are you really sure your description "wrong" wasn't "right" all along?
You concluded:
"So, I will spare you any further postings and confine my comments to a 'letter to the editor' of H.O. 229."
I realize you didn't mean that 'letter to the editor' to be taken literally, but it makes me wonder if he or she is still alive. :/
You can count on this: there is near ZERO chance that anyone with lingering formal responsibility for Pub.229 will modify it. But if you write up your explanations of any errors, or even just ambiguities, that you find in "229" here on the NavList message boards, there is a fairly good chance that future students will discover them. Even if you're just explaining some aspects of the instructions that you found confusing, it's worth doing. Some historian or navigation enthusiast fifty years from now will thank you for it.
