    Dear David,

    That's absolutely true, no appreciable difference at all on the Coriolis vertical deviation effect whether you follow a Great Circle or a Rhumb line at the same instantaneous ground Speed vector.

    In addition to the Coriolis correction - sometimes preponderant especially for fast moving aircraft - there remains another additionnal reason for vertical lateral deflection which is applicable only in the case of Rhumb lines especially at high latitudes, but not in the case of Great Circles.
