In reply to your post Jeremy [# 12782], with Peter's solution given in NavList [# 12795], I finally had time to work your example out :
The 120ft Tower is seen under an angle of 26'9 (cfse : corrected for sextant error). Therefore its distance should be quite close from 15809', or 4817 m or 2.6 NM.
From this distance and your height of eye 106' get a dip short Moon correction of -24.1'
We can then process your Lunar with the following values :
Date Apr 05, 2010, approximate position S0700.0E07200.0
Average value of the Distances between Sun and Moon : 104°02'075 (cfse), and
Sun heights average value : 37°22'4 LL (cfse), and
Moon heights average value : 37°03'75 (cfse and corrected for dip short)
From these values, and with TT-UT=66.8 s, get the following :
UT 03h48m18.8s / S 05°28'8 / E 072°15'7 / Lunar derived
... Well, given that your anchorage position should be close from S07°16'7 / E 072°25'7, this is far from being a quite exciting result (although the longitude determination is fair enough). Therefore, I published all intermediate values and relevant assumptions so that anybody else can check for any possible error or misunderstanding from my part.
