For me the old art & science of navigation is more than a hobby, is a passion, and Sailing, (I prefer sailboats than powerboats), is a pleasure.

I bought my first book about celestial navigation when I was nine or ten years old, but that book explain very little about the CN, it was like a book of cooking recipes. The aim that moves me to write about navigations is to share all I have learned and still I am learning. Is very gratifying for me to see somebody appreciate my little work, thanks. Next year the Journal of Navigation, RIN, will publish a paper by me: “Vector Solution for the Intersection of two Circles of Equal Altitude

I am a mechanical engineer; my hobbies are the navigation, sail, alpinism, to dive,… But now I have very little time because I have two little daughters (five moths and two years old), my first hobby…

Usually I navigate aboard a 8 m Gib Sea sailboat in the Cantabric Sea, I also have navigated in the Friesische Inseln, in Holland, in the Red Sea, in the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea, in the Canary Islands and in the Windward Islands: from Martinique to the Tobago cays. And I wish to do some day the Atlantic Ocean cross.

The last summer we did river navigation in France: Le canal du Midi, Arles, Sainte Marie de la Mer,… where Van Gogh paint starry night, an others.

It is funny using only one celestial LoP, obtain your position because indeed you are on the river. On a road in the middle of nowhere, the circumstance is the same.

NavList is for me a good source of experiences, opinions and knowledge, no other stuff.

Let be navigators & gentlemen or women...

    sincerely,

    Andrés Ruiz
