    Hewitt,
Nicolas was on the right track IMHO. Just that Open Office doesn't work
with Mac OS X. The port of openoffice to Mac is called NeoOffice and
can be downloaded for free at:
    http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php

As how to help George with the documentation issue there is "in program"
help instead of "online help." Open a new spreadsheet and under the
"help" pull down menu select the first item on the menu "openoffice.org
help" or press F1. This help documentation is not as extensive as a
book, but I find it more than adequate. Plus since it's "in program"
you don't have to go online to get help, say if you still use a dailup
    connection. Hope this helps someone.

    Scott
