I am confused by part 3 of this leg. Has anyone worked it? The problem states[W]e are unable to get a Fix for 3 days until .. Log ... 724.4 nmi since .. RFIX on 11/09/2002 at 05:10:21 UT [until 15/09/2002 at 03:30:31 UT] ... Speed 10.3 ktsBy my calculation, this is an elapsed time of ~4 days (3 days 22:20:10) or 94.336 hr. At 10.3 kts, this would give a distance travelled of 971.7 nmi, not 724.4 nmi. The 724.4 nmi is consistant with a travel time of 2days 22:20:10, which would put us on the 14th (The solution gives a date of 14/09/2002) 2002y 09m 15day 03:30:31 = 2002/09/14 27:30:31 2002y 09m 14day 27:30:31 2002y 09m 11day 05:10:21 ------------------------ 0000y 00m 03day 22:20:10 The Almanac data given with the problem seems to be more or less in Agreement with that given by the USNO data online page for the 15th, not the 14th.
