No part of this publication may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system or transmitted in any from or by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording or otherwise without the prior permission of Her Majesty's Nautical Almanac Office, an office of the Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Chilton, Didcot, Oxfordshire 0X11 0QX, United Kingdom. Now for the kicker. The following United States government work is excepted from the above notice, and no copyright is claimed for it in the United States: cover, title page and reverse, Preface, pages 6 and 7, pages 286 to 315. So it looks like the U.S. version of the NA is not copyrighted. Not being a lawyer I am not sure how this works out. I would bet that the Almanac is cheaper in the U.S. then in the U.K. especially if you got one of the "commercial editions" and not the one from the USGPO. I wonder if Brits could order the almanac from the U.S.via the internet and get it for less.
